When faced with a fear of failure

Do you start out to do something and not follow through because of what could go wrong?

Atychiphobia is another word for a fear of failure.

Failures are a part of life though.  Failures help us to learn, to grow and to develop.  Most of all, failures help to remind us of our frailty and just how much we need a Guide and Comforter as we go through this life.

Somehow we think that if we fail, it will take us out but failure is not the end.  It can be the start of such a new beginning or give us a new direction.

“The Lord directs the steps of the godly.

He delights in every detail of their lives.

Though they stumble, they will never fall,

for the Lord holds them by the hand.”

Psalm 37:23-24

I enjoy reading God’s word.  It gives me comfort and direction for my life.  Now, I don’t always get it right but it is such a reference point.  This verse reminds me that God is concerned about every detail of my life.  Even if I stumble, He still holds my hand.  The Lord knows I need Him to hold my hand sometimes because I can so easily get distracted.

This verse also reminds me that when things don’t go the way that I would like them to, God is still with me.  I can remember taking my licensure exam for the second time in November 2016.  I knew God had called me to this line of work but this test seemed to be a hindrance.  I had taken it about a year before and I failed.  I told myself that I wasn’t going to take it again. As time went on, I decided to study for it and was diligent in doing this.  I ended up passing my exam!  I was so excited.

Even though we stumble, the Lord will keep ups from falling.  He holds our hand and guides us as we go through this life.

I’m glad that I don’t have to do this all on my own and neither do you.  💛
